Growing up, I always love to find ways to mod my video games. Who wouldn’t want to take their favorite games and make little tweaks or add new content? Today, I am a bit older and still love to mod games. A custom map project that I am proud of is The Dominion Strikes Back.
Trailer for the Starcraft 2 Map: The Dominion Strikes Back
The Dominion Strikes Back is a Starcraft 2 map that I first publish late 2011. It tells a story of how the Dominion have secretly track down Jim Raynor and his rebels to a secret base on the ice planet Braxis. The Dominion (team 2), now launch a surprise assault on the Rebels (team 1). The Rebels must hold out till help arrives, while the Dominion must crush the Rebels in the allotted time. In a nutshell, imagine a ‘Battle of Hoth’ esce battle taking place in the Starcraft universe. A few weeks after the map was publish, I was thrilled to learn that my map was feature on the gaming blog site Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/5868364/one-mans-turned-star-warss-battle-of-hoth-into-a-starcraft-2-map .  And then later on the foreign website FirstPost: http://www.firstpost.com/topic/organization/facebook-projeto-fliperama-the-dominion-strikes-back-video-tM2tqsOKnSo-37423-2.htmlÂ
The project features scripted encounters, a number of cinematic cut-scenes, edited audio dialogue, and immersive terrain.
The total project time to create the map was about 1 year.
